One of the largest of the Ionian Islands, Kefolonia is part of western Greece. The island is known in Italian as Cephalonia, and other spellings of the name are also used. Island Beaches

The water has safe shallows for young children, and just up the hill is a small bar and restaurant that serves delicious lunches.
The Lixouri Peninsula has some beaches around its shores that are not overcrowded. Sands and white rocks are found along the beaches. One example is Petani Beach, near the town of Lixouri. This pebble and sand beach has mountains all around it. The water is safe generally for swimming, and the beach is a popular place to watch the sun setting in the evenings.
Museums and Historic Sites
Argostoli: – Kefalonia’s capital since the mid-1700s, Argostoli is in a stunning western bay and port. Just up the coast are the underwater Melissani Cave and the Fanari Lighthouse. Argostoli’s Archeological Museum shows many amazing artefacts found on the island. Some of the antiques date before recorded history.
Fiscardo: Fiscardo is a picturesque village by the sea with charming accommodations and restaurants. The town is small and historic, easy to navigate on foot.
